"Babe" was a hard knocking, trying hard mare who placed twice in stakes
race, once second by a nose and the other by a half length. Babe won 13
races, placed second 20 times, and third 9 times out of 53 starts over
six years of racing and won $145,103.
Ron's
partner in Tamara's Babe was Marcus Teague who, according to Ron, was
as good a partner as anyone could have. Marcus and his wife Karen and
Ron and his wife Linda had many good times watching Babe run. She died
in 2009 after a bout with EPM. She fought until the end and we all
cried like babies. She will be remembered forever.
After her
retirement from racing, Tamara's Babe had two foals, a 2007 colt named Seahettiesbiscuit out of Strategic
Partner, who is currently racing, and a 2009 colt named Jeffrey Be out of Evansville Slew that will
start his racing career in 2011.
